Arlington Gears Up for FIFA World Cup 2026™: A Community Perspective

As the FIFA World Cup 2026™ approaches, Arlington is set to host nine matches at AT&T Stadium, the most of any venue in North America. This presents a unique opportunity for our community to shine on the global stage.

Infrastructure and Safety Enhancements

To accommodate the influx of visitors, the city has been proactive in upgrading infrastructure. Expanded sidewalks and improved traffic management systems are being implemented to ensure smooth mobility. Public safety remains a top priority, with dedicated resources allocated to maintain services for residents during the tournament. Deputy City Manager Jennifer Wichmann emphasized that public safety services will not be reduced due to World Cup operations, ensuring that police, fire, and emergency response services for residents will remain fully staffed and uninterrupted throughout the tournament.

Economic Impact and Community Engagement

The tournament is expected to bring over 1 million visitors to North Texas, generating an estimated economic impact between $1.5 billion and $2 billion across the region. On match days alone, Arlington could welcome as many as 100,000 visitors per day. Local businesses are encouraged to participate in the North Texas Business Connect Program to seize procurement opportunities tied to the event. Additionally, the establishment of ‘Ambassador Row’ at Choctaw Stadium will provide international fans with direct access to consulates for travel and emergency assistance.

Transportation Planning

Recognizing the potential for increased traffic, the North Texas FWC Organizing Committee and the North Central Texas Council of Governments have unveiled a comprehensive transportation plan. This plan aims to facilitate seamless movement for both residents and visitors, emphasizing the importance of planning ahead to keep North Texas moving during match days.

Community Involvement

Residents are encouraged to stay informed and engaged as the city prepares for this historic event. By participating in community meetings, volunteering, or simply staying updated through official channels, we can collectively ensure that Arlington not only hosts a successful World Cup but also leaves a lasting positive impact on our community.
